Product Introduction
5A molecular sieve is a synthetic zeolite with a uniform microporous structure, classified as a calcium/sodium Type A zeolite. Through ion exchange—replacing part of the sodium ions (Na⁺) in 4A molecular sieve (sodium form) with calcium ions (Ca²⁺)—its pore window diameter is expanded from 4A to 5A, endowing it with the capability to sieve larger molecules.
Key Specifications
- Chemical formula: 3/4CaO·1/4Na₂O·Al₂O₃·2SiO₂·9/2H₂O
- Silicon-aluminum ratio: SiO₂/Al₂O₃ ≈ 2
- Effective pore size: Approximately 5A (0.5 nm)
Applications
Primarily utilized for n-paraffin/isoparaffin separation, oxygen-nitrogen separation, and the drying/purification of industrial gases and liquids such as chemicals, petroleum, natural gas, and ammonia decomposition gas. Specific applications include:
- Deep drying of gases and liquids (e.g., air, natural gas, alkanes, refrigerants)
- Argon gas preparation and purification
- Static drying of pharmaceutical packaging, electronic components, and perishable materials
- Dehydrating agent in paints, fuels, and coatings
With an effective pore size of 5A, 5A molecular sieve can adsorb molecules with a diameter not exceeding 5A. As an alkali metal aluminosilicate with a Type A crystal structure, it enables n-paraffin/isoparaffin separation, co-adsorption of moisture and carbon dioxide, and pressure swing adsorption (PSA) for various gas separation processes.
